La Cage Aux Folles (UK Tour), New Wimbledon Theatre | Review

We're starting to see glimpses of summer but if you need something else to warm and brighten your life then the UK Tour of La Cage Aux Folles is the show for you! The production is high-kicking, glitzy, high energy and feather filled.
The Tony Award winning musical tells the story of Albin and Georges, a couple living idyllically in France. Albin moonlights as the drag star Zaza in the glamourous club: La Cage Aux Folles, which is owned by Georges. Their peaceful existence is put to halt when Georges' son (played by Dougie Carter) announces that he is engaged to Anne, the daughter of a politician: Dindon (Paul F Monaghan), who is against all things homosexual and wants to close down Georges' "den of debauchery"!
This is a story of love, family and individuality. The family struggle to stay as a strong unit whilst trying to change themselves to impress Anne's parents, therefore allowing their son to be happily married.
John Partridge, veteran of the stage, plays the larger than life Albin. Having recently seen John in Chicago, I was extremely impressed at his versatility on stage and ability to transform into someone else completely. The role is demanding both physically and emotionally, with moments of laugh out loud humour, to quiet moments of pin drop silent emotion. John perfectly nails the character, with the the right amount of sincerity and vulnerability to balance the over the top flamboyance.
Partnered with Adrian Zmed as Georges, the pair have a believable and touching relationship which works very well in the theatrical setting. West End legend, Marti Webb also gives a lovely performance as Jacqueline.
Overall the show is full of life, laughs and lunacy. There is enough energy to power London and enough sparkle to give the Chrysler building some serious competition! Every performance is energetic and the production is really a gem! For a fun, carefree night out, be sure to make a visit to La Cage Aux Folles!

Full Cast Announced for Love Story in Concert
Michael Matus (The Phantom of the Opera, La Cage Aux Folles) will replace Peter Polycarpou as Phil
Cavilleri, who has had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.
Simon Green (Titanic, Mrs Henderson Presents, Priscilla Queen of the Desert) will play Oliver Barrett IV.
Completing the cast is Jenna Boyd (Come from Away) as the Doctor.
The Ensemble features Simbi Akande
(The Prince of Egypt), Jordan Cunningham (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Alison Driver (What’s New
Pussycat?), Charlie-Jade Jones (West Side Story), Maximillian Murphy (Parade), and Nikhil Singh Rai (Les
Miserables, Mountview).
Love Story celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Love Story’s premiere at Chichester Festival Theatre and
subsequent transfer to the West End’s Duchess Theatre.
Based on the 1970 New York Times #1 bestselling novel by Erich Segal - which was adapted into one of the
highest grossing films of all time - Love Story follows Oliver Barrett IV, a Harvard jock, and Jenny Cavilleri, a
gifted musician studying at Radcliffe.
Love Story was Olivier-nominated for Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Xavier) and Best Actress in a
Musical (Williams). Since its West End run in 2010, the show has been performed in the USA, Russia, The
Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, South Korea, Italy, Germany and Bolton Octagon Theatre.

Noah Mullins Joins Mark Addy and Jenna Russell in The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry in the West End
A Star-Studded West End Cast for Harold Fry
The heartwarming and deeply moving musical The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry has announced that Noah Mullins will join Mark Addy and Jenna Russell for its West End run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, from 29 January to 18 April 2026.
Mullins will play The Balladeer, joining the five-star production that critics have called “pitch-perfect” (The Times).
Noah Mullins is no stranger to the stage. Making their professional debut at 19 as Riff in West Side Story, they have since starred in La Cage Aux Folles, Banjo Paterson, and the original company of Jagged Little Pill. In 2024, Mullins received acclaim for performances in Rent and Hadestown, showcasing their extraordinary range and presence in musical theatre.
A Journey of Hope and Renewal
Adapted by Rachel Joyce from her beloved novel, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry tells the story of an ordinary man who embarks on an extraordinary walk across England. His journey of self-discovery and love is set to a “ravishing score” (The Times) by chart-topping musician Passenger, with direction by Katy Rudd (The Ocean at the End of the Lane).

“I couldn’t be more thrilled that this joyful show has found a home in the West End. I never imagined, when I first wrote the book, that it would become a musical one day, and never in my wildest dreams did I think it might find a home in one of my favourite theatres.”
With Mark Addy, Jenna Russell, and Noah Mullins leading the cast, this production promises to be a heartfelt and uplifting London theatre experience and a reminder that it is never too late to start again.
