Beautiful Little Fool World Premiere at Southwark Playhouse

Exploring the Lives of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald

The world premiere of Beautiful Little Fool will debut at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 15 January to 28 February 2026. Starring David Hunter, Lauren Ward, and Hannah Corneau, this new musical delves into the lives of literary icons F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald through the eyes of their daughter Scottie.

David Hunter, known for his roles in Waitress, Once, Kinky Boots, and The Time Traveller’s Wife, stars as F. Scott. Lauren Ward plays Scottie, while Hannah Corneau portrays Zelda. The show is directed by Michael Greif, with a book by Mona Mansour and music and lyrics by Hannah Corneau.

Hunter replaces Declan Bennett due to scheduling conflicts, bringing warmth, depth, and musical intelligence to the production. Greif said:
“David brings such heart, warmth and musical intelligence to everything he does, and he’s a wonderful fit for the role of F. Scott. As the concept album continues to find new listeners around the world, we can’t wait to bring this extraordinary story to life on stage in January.”
The production will feature orchestrations by Adam Rothenberg, musical direction by Jerome van den Berghe, set design by Shankho Chaudhuri, costumes by Laura Hopkins, lighting by Ben Stanton, and sound design by Domnic Bilkey. A concept album, recorded in New York with performances from Jessie Mueller and Ryan Vasquez, is available on Spotify and Amazon.

Beautiful Little Fool promises to immerse London theatre audiences in the literary and emotional journey of one of America’s most famous artistic couples, combining historical storytelling with a lush, contemporary musical score.
