The Cult Musical Comedy Returns to the UK Stage
A brand-new production of Little Shop of Horrors is set to light up the Liverpool Playhouse this Christmas, following its major revival at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre. Running from 3 December 2026 to 9 January 2027, the festive season will kick off with a press night on Friday 4 December 2026.
This new staging marks the longest sit-down UK production of Little Shop of Horrors since the acclaimed 2007 West End run. The Manchester dates, from 25 September to 29 November 2026, will lead directly into the Liverpool engagement, giving fans across the North a double chance to experience the cult classic.
A Star Creative Team for a Killer Musical
Directed and choreographed by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, whose previous credits include Six and Sylvia, this reimagined version brings new life to Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s beloved musical. Known for its irresistible songs, outrageous humour and one very hungry plant, the show remains one of musical theatre’s most iconic comedies.
Joining Ingrouille are top industry talents including Morgan Large (set and costume design), Paul Schofield (musical supervision), Rory Beaton (lighting), Kelsh Buckman-Drage (sound) and Rob Kelly (casting).
Nathan Powell, Creative Director of Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, said:
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming this cult classic musical to the Playhouse next Christmas. Little Shop of Horrors is wonderfully odd, full of cracking tunes, and offers a brilliantly different take on festive entertainment.”
Producer Thomas Hopkins added:
“This production promises to be one of the most exciting and faithful interpretations of Little Shop of Horrors the UK has seen in many, many years.”
Presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International, Little Shop of Horrors promises to thrill audiences with its mix of rock, comedy and camp charm,  proving once again that the appetite for Audrey II never fades.
