Step Inside the Making of a West End Hit
A brand-new podcast, Clarkston: The Making of a West End Show, has just launched, offering theatre fans a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of a new London theatre production.
Produced and presented by Ngofeen Mputubwele, the three-episode series follows Clarkston in its final 72 hours before its first preview at Trafalgar Theatre, charting the intense creative journey from rehearsal room to opening night.
Listeners will hear from cast, creatives, and producers, including Joe Locke, Ruaridh Mollica, and Sophie Melville, as well as the play’s acclaimed writer Samuel D. Hunter, whose film The Whale won an Academy Award.
Directed by Jack Serio, Clarkston tells a moving modern story about friendship, self-discovery, and hope in unexpected places.
Behind the Curtain of London Theatre
Across its three episodes, the podcast explores everything that goes into making a West End production. From acting and writing to technical rehearsals and first-night nerves. Mputubwele, a journalist and audio producer with credits including The New Yorker and Duolingo’s French Podcast, gives listeners a cinematic, emotional journey through the highs and lows of creative collaboration.
Alongside the podcast, the producers of Clarkston have announced a series of special events and workshops in partnership with ATG Entertainment West End Creative Learning, including post-show Q&As and career workshops designed to inspire the next generation of theatre-makers.
Clarkston runs at Trafalgar Theatre until 22 November, with tickets available at ClarkstonPlay.co.uk.
