The Raunch, Spiegeltent | Review

Thursday 19 May 2016

Going into something with no idea what its about is both exhilarating and slightly terrifying. Whilst I wouldn't say I was terrified of what to expect when seeing The Raunch, I was slightly worried. I had absolutely no clue what the show was about except that it involved circus tricks and was sure to provide a  toe-tapping, exciting night.

The Raunch is a show starring the Most Wanted of the international cabaret and circus scene and featuring a toe tapping, disco-hoedown soundtrack.

Starring legendary cabaret performer Empress Stah as The Bad Sherriff, with her trigger-happy laser aerial act, featuring Light in Places - a song especially composed for the act by Peaches.

The Raunch also stars Alternative Miss World Fancy Chance as The Condemned; hip-hop, rapping-tapping dancing twins My Bad Sister as The Bar Room Beauties; international sword-swallowing femme-fatale Jewels Good as The Madame of the Saloon; ivory Albino ivory-tinkler Stephen Thompson as The Ghost Rider; daring circus superstar Jo Moss as The Cockfighter; and the indescribably irreverent Mr Teds as The Unwanted. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole show (as did my mum who I took with me!) we were laughing throughout, in awe at the movement and just in shock at what went on on the Spiegeltent stage. The venue was wonderful with an old fashioned feel that really added to the performance.

I had a wonderful night out and was tapping my toes all the way home! If you can get down to Southbank do make a stop at the London Wonderground whether for a show or just to enjoy the sun in a lovely setting. The Wonderground is open until the 25th September!
